Allen Baki
Director
-
A Detroit native and Pratt Institute graduate, I bring creativity and lived experience to the IYCCV board. After a career at Apple, I retired to Palm Springs with my husband, where I volunteer with the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Modernism Week, and Palm Springs Preservation Foundation, and serve on the board of CayaGuide, a plant medicine church in Berkeley, CA. My past includes fundraising for DIFFA-SF for five years, and raising funds for Under One Roof, which donated 100% of its profits to community-based AIDS/HIV and LGBT organizations in the Bay Area.
Iyengar yoga became a healing practice after a retreat in the Amazon. IYCCV’s free classes offer access and support to underserved communities. I serve to help others experience the transformation, balance, and mindfulness Iyengar yoga has brought to my life.

After decades of practicing yoga and taking every yoga class I could find, I found Iyengar Yoga Palm Desert and the alignment discipline of Iyengar Yoga. I became convinced that this yoga prevents and cures many illnesses and injuries, helping me to live my best life. By working on this nonprofit board and helping with grant writing, I hope I’ve found a way to help encourage other people to try Iyengar Yoga—people who may not easily find their way to the practice. I really appreciate the opportunity to get to know and work alongside such talented and giving people.
