Who We Are

IYCCV (Iyengar Yoga Center Coachella Valley) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the Coachella Valley offering free Iyengar Yoga to residents that want to practice yoga to nurture and support their physical, mental, and emotional health, regardless of their ability to pay for a yoga class. We offer classes designed for older adults, women affected by cancer, youth, and the general public.  Most of our classes are offered in both English and Spanish, and in a hybrid format, in the studio and via Zoom. We also collaborate with other nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley, bringing yoga to their clients and staff.  All IYCCV classes are offered free of charge.

Our History

In 2020, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher® Holly Hoffmann recognized a pressing need in the Coachella Valley for accessible yoga for individuals recovering from cancer treatment. Inspired to take action, she gathered a group of dedicated students and friends to form a nonprofit rooted in healing and inclusion.

By 2021, IYCCV was officially established as a 501(c)(3) organization, receiving federal tax-exempt status from the IRS. The founding Board of Directors, Alex Aguilar, Holger Aguilar, Morelia Baltazar, Judi Cohen, Holly Hoffmann, Rita Johnson, and Mary Jo Ryan, brought diverse strengths and a shared commitment to community wellness through Iyengar Yoga.

Guided by our mission “To make available the teachings of Iyengar Yoga for the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the people in the Coachella Valley and beyond” and our vision “Nurturing Our Community Through Iyengar Yoga”, IYCCV continues to grow, expanding programs, deepening outreach, and nurturing resilience through the transformative practice of yoga.
